In the hustle and bustle of busy London, famous Royal Albert Hall became a majestic house of worship. In the presence of a capacity crowd of over 5000 women, Stephanie Seefeldt began the day with the admonition to “Be Still” in the presence of the Lord. Indeed, it seemed that each woman settled into her seat for a life-changing day of worship, prayer, Bible study, and the proclamation of God’s Word.
The women sang with abandon as Fernando Ortega led them in worship. The words of “Be Thou My Vision” filled the beautiful hall with praises to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And, many were reminded of the tender love of Jesus as they sang acappella “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”
Anne Graham Lotz delivered the first message of the day, describing in clear detail the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross and concluding with a strong invitation to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior and for believers, to repent of sin. Hundreds responded from every level of the historic venue, filling the aisles and falling to their knees in repentance of sin. As they departed the stage, it seemed that all left with a fresh perspective on the hope and joy available to all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord.
Jill Briscoe was welcomed back to her native country with resounding applause. The last time Jill visited Royal Albert Hall, she was an 18-year old girl who had just received Christ three weeks earlier. That evening the speaker urged the audience to never lose their fervent love for the Lord Jesus, and fifty years later, Jill’s presence was testimony that her passion for Jesus is more fervent than ever. Jill, with the help of Stephanie Seefeldt, led the audience in prayer for themselves, their families, their country and the world. Women throughout the audience prayed fervently.
Anne then taught the women how to hear God’s voice speaking to them through the Scriptures. The women dove into the verses, asking the three penetrating questions: What does the verse say? What does it mean? How does it apply to one’s life? The responses were exciting as many for the first time learned how to study God’s Word for themselves.
Lastly, Anne delivered a powerful message from the Gospel of John in which she described Jesus, our Risen Lord. At the conclusion of the message, it seemed that every woman raised her voice in the beloved hymn, “I Surrender All,” and her “flag of surrender,” committing to follow and serve the Lord Jesus for the rest of her life. It was a thrilling moment as Christians from throughout the area were refreshed and renewed in their love for Jesus.
The corridors of each of the 5 levels of Royal Albert Hall are filled with pictures of historic celebrations, performances, and events that have taken place since the Hall was constructed in the 1880s. The premier musicians from this century and the last have performed there to applause and cheers. No matter the glamour, there has never been a more glorious occasion than what took place there October 4, 2003. As the name of Jesus was lifted up and His Word proclaimed, His presence seemed palpable in that magnificent place. Thousands were revived. To God be the glory!
